Travel Photography

Every time I have the privilege to go to a different part of the world, I take as many photos as I can to not only document my travels, but to give myself something to reflect on once I return.

Engaging with different cultures shapes how you see the world, and is an unparalleled learning experience. Traveling has taught me so much about the world and myself, and I only hope to capture some of that magic from behind the lens.

Antarctica

Over the winter break of 2019, my family and I traveled to one of the most remote places in the world, Antarctica. It was the sixth continent that I’ve had the privilege to travel to, and certainly the most awe-inspiring. One of the few locations in the world still relatively uninfluenced by humanity, it is a place unlike any other. Throughout our trip, we learned about the issues facing the Antarctic landscape and wildlife from the onslaught of climate change. With rising temperatures threatening a loss of habitat, many creatures are having to make drastic changes. This photo collection is inspired by preserving the wildness of the “White Continent” through an artistic lens. As an additional reflection on from this trip, I wrote a personal essay for Fools Magazine about the eccentricities of international travel and the privileges that surround it.

Greece

Art and literature holds some of its deepest roots in ancient Greece, and to enrich my studies in writing, I traveled over winter break in 2018 with a group of fellow students to this land of muses. We visited various historical sites, learning of the art and mythology behind some well-known creations.

I spent a month in England in the summer of 2017, studying theater and touring the artistic communities of the UK from London to Stratford-upon-Avon. These photos catalog some of my favorite moments while abroad in this artistic and historical mecca.

Spain

I studied Spanish throughout high school and wanted to engage with Spanish culture on a more personal level. And so, in the summer of 2016, I traveled to Spain on a school trip along with other students in my program and used photography as an exploration of my cross-cultural experience.
